SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – Thousands of people in several Northern and Central California counties could see the lights turned off starting Wednesday morning in the latest round of PG&E power shutoffs.
In some parts of the Bay Area, those blackouts could begin as early as 7 a.m.
PG&E is planning more power shutoffs as strong winds and dry conditions threaten to increase the risk of wildfires.
On Tuesday, power shutoffs were canceled in many Bay Area counties, including Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz.
The shutoff is now expected to impact about 150,000 customers across 18 counties.
Originally, 303,000 customers were expected to be affected in portions of 25 counties, with eight in the Bay Area.
The three Bay Area counties that remain on the list are Sonoma, Napa, and Solano.
PG&E says the shutoffs will begin in phases, depending on the forecast.
Power shutoffs are scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. Wednesday in Napa, Solano and Sonoma counties.
PG&E expects most of its customers to have their power back by Thursday evening.
Tamar Sarkissian, a PG&E spokesperson, tells KRON4 that they look at Red Flag Warnings, humidity levels, dead trees in the area, and wind conditions to determine which areas will be impacted by a power shutoff.

The utility company said it will notify customers again 24 hours and four hours prior to the planned outages.
PG&E plans to again open several Community Resource Centers that will provide restroom, snacks, charging stations and both AC and heated areas.
Exact locations for those Community Resource Centers have not yet been announced.
